As you know, global warming will be seriously affecting our lives, but as only one person, is there anything I can do?
YES!
On 28-March-2007, for one hour, one city made a powerful statement about the urgent need for action on global warming
As Australia’s largest city, Sydney took the first stand by turning off its lights from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm, and we call this only 1 hour as "EARTH HOUR"
2.2 million people in Sydney turned off their lights
Earth Hour 2007 brought together families, businesses, local councils & Hollywood stars.
AND in 2008
Earth Hour went global: it bought together 35 countries & 370 cities including Toronto (Canada), Suva (Fiji), Phoenix (U.S.), Rome (Italy), New York (U.S.), Tel Aviv (Israel), Casey Station (Antarctica), Christchurch (New Zealand), Chicago (U.S.), Canberra (Australia), Copenhagen (Denmark), San Francisco (U.S.), Manila (Philippines), Atlanta (U.S.),
It stopped being a Sydney event
But became a global movement
It is estimated that globally 50 million people took part in Earth Hour 2008
And it is time to make Earth Hour 2009 even bigger!
As China’s capital, Beijing will be participating as of 28-March-2009!

在2007年3月31日，有一个城市为抵抗全球变暖做出了一个强有力的行动
作为澳大利亚的最大城市：悉尼，在2007年3月31日晚7点30分至8点30分，全城将几乎所有电灯熄灭一个小时，这个一小时，就是“地球一小时”
那天，悉尼的220万人，熄灭了他们的电灯
2007年悉尼的那次“地球一小时”将家庭，商业，当地议会甚至好莱坞影星团结在了一起。
在2008年。“地球一小时”走向了世界，35个国家超过370个城市参与这项活动，这些城市包括：
加拿大多伦多，加拿大温哥华，美国凤凰城，意大利罗马，美国纽约，以色列特拉维夫，新西兰克赖斯特彻奇，美国芝加哥，澳大利亚堪培拉，丹麦哥本哈根，美国旧金山，菲律宾马尼拉，美国亚特兰大，当然也有澳大利亚的悉尼，甚至是南极洲科考站。
“地球一小时”已经不再只是属于悉尼的
它已经走向全球
在2008年，全球有超过5千万的人们参与这项活动，而现在是2009年，“地球一小时”将会更加壮大。
作为中国的首都，北京，将成为中国第一个参与“地球一小时”的中国大陆城市，他将于2009年3月28日晚8：30 到9：30， 全城熄灯一个小时！
其实很简单，就是在2009年3月28日晚，在你觉得合适的时间里，将电灯熄灭一小时，个人的一小步，将是人类的一大步。
